In The Darkness

At the end of my rope,

hanging on by a thread,

Wishing these feelings I have,

would finally come to an end.

In the darkness, one discovers

Friends who love me

and help me,

to cope with life’s disappointments

and heartaches,

inflicted by those

I thought I could trust.

  1. Hugs to you as you work your way through a hard part of life. The blue color of HOPE shows that their will be peace after the storm. May you find peace!

  2. So glad you have friends in the darkness that are there for you! Your poem, especially your focus on HOPE, makes me think of Emily Dickinson’s:

Hope is the thing with feathers
    That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
    And never stops at all

I hope that your writing helps you, too. I find that it does for me.

  3. I’m so sorry you’re going through a difficult time but glad that you have friends to lean on and help you through. I find that writing helps me sort through my feelings and find clarity. I hope that this process helps you as well.

  4. This is a wonderful slice and I’m sorry if this is a fresh wound in real life. I’ll beat up anyone you need. 😉

    • Thanks Kim! This is not a fresh wound, though I’m glad to have you on my side. I believe that we have to be real in our writing and pour out those emotions into the written word. The written word, especially poetry, is so powerful that it illicits many emotions and interpretations.

  5. Such a heartfelt slice – I’m glad for your friends. Here’s hoping for a better tomorrow.

  6. So sorry for your pain….beautifully expressed. , May your words help heal your wounds.
